Just another WordPress.com site

Just a little note…

Hey guys,

So I know I said I would be adding cash/cheque donations that I get into the chip in widget so that you guys could see my progress as well but it won’t let me donate to my own account so just an update…I am at 475$ so far! So thank you to everyone that has donated. Also, I know a few of you have asked about tax receipts, and the answer is no, unfortunately because the humanity exchange is not a registered charitable organization, I cannot provide tax receipts!

Thanks again for all of your help and support!

Dear Friends and Family

Muhammad Ali once said: “Volunteer service is rent paid for time spent on Earth“.

Following the wise words of Muhammad Ali and paying some rent for my time here on Earth, I will be embarking on a volunteer trip to Ghana this summer in which I will be working with children, a dream of mine that I have had since I was about 10 years old. I have created this blog for you all to follow my travels, as well as to ask for your help. Flights to Ghana range from 2000$ and upwards, therefore I am asking for your help in helping to get me to Ghana.

During a period of two weeks, our team will set up and run one-week long summer camp
programs in 2 local communities with limited or no access to after school programming. The
communities are located in the Nzema district of Western Region, Ghana.

Here is a sample of what my two weeks in Ghana will look like:

Saturday July 21st
-Arrival
-Group orientation

Sunday July 22nd
-Departure to Western region
-Visit to Cape Coast
-Work on a schedule for the upcoming week of camp

Monday July 23rd – Friday July 27th
-For the next five days the team will be working alongside local staff, running a camp at an
elementary school in the Western region.

Saturday July 28th
-A day off
-Volunteers can relax at the beach or visit Axim town.

Sunday July 29th
-The team will travel to a local village of Beyin, where we will then venture to the village of
Nzulezu on a one hour dugout canoe ride through the Amansuri swamps, the largest intact
swamp forest in all of Ghana.

Monday July 30th – Friday August 3rd
-For the next five days we will have the opportunity to work alongside local staff in our 2nd site, a
local elementary school in the Western region we will be working with.

Saturday August 4th
-A day off

Sunday August 5th
-The team will depart Western Region for Accra in the early morning. Volunteers depart
throughout the evening.

For those of you who are interested in donating, I have started a PayPal account into which you can donate. Any donations, no matter what the amount are greatly appreciated! Any other money I raise through fundraising events will be added into that account so that you guys can track my fundraising process. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my blog, and for all of your generous help – it is greatly appreciated!

-Steph
